Privacy Policy

Last updated: 31 May 2026

This site (feikowielsma.nl) is the personal homepage of Feiko Wielsma, based in Utrecht, the Netherlands. I keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the site and answer messages. This page explains exactly what is collected and why.

1. Contact form

If you use the contact form, I collect the name, email address, and message you enter, for the sole purpose of reading and replying to your enquiry.

Form submissions are delivered through Formspree (Formspree, Inc., USA), which acts as a data processor and forwards your message to my inbox. This is the only third party that receives data you submit. Please don't send sensitive personal information through the form.

Legal basis: your consent and/or taking steps at your request prior to a possible agreement (Art. 6(1)(a)/(b) GDPR). Retention: messages stay in my email only as long as needed to handle the correspondence, then are deleted.

2. Analytics

I run a self-hosted instance of Umami (stats.feikowielsma.nl) — a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool. It is hosted by me on my own infrastructure, so your usage data is not shared with any third-party analytics provider.

It records only aggregated, anonymised statistics: pages viewed, referring site, approximate country, and browser/device type. It does not use cookies, does not store your IP address, and does not track you across other websites.

Legal basis: my legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Because the data is anonymous and cookieless, no consent banner is required.

3. Theme preference & cookies

This site sets no cookies. Your light/dark theme choice is stored locally in your browser (localStorage) so the site remembers it on your next visit. This stays on your device and is never sent anywhere.

4. Hosting & logs

The site is hosted on Google Cloud Run. As with any web server, the hosting provider may process standard technical request logs to deliver and secure the service.

5. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email feiko@feikowielsma.nl. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).

6. Changes

If this policy changes, the "last updated" date above will be revised. Material changes will be reflected here.
